Dr. Tim Bakelaar

Dr. Tim is a native of Brandon, Mississippi. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Millsaps College. He received his DMD degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Following graduation, Dr. Tim completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry at UMMC. He then completed a two-year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at UTHSC in Memphis. During his residency, Dr. Tim treated patients at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center, St. Jude Children's Hospital, the Arlington Developmental Center, and Crittenden Memorial Hospital. Dr. Tim is Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry, serving as a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, and the Memphis Dental Society. He has operating room privileges at LeBonheur East Surgery Center, and he provides both oral and IV sedation in our offices. He has been named a "Top Dentist" by Memphis Magazine several times in his career, and his passion within the practice is caring for children and adults with special needs. 


Dr. Tim has one daughter, Abby. She is his pride and joy. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, watching sports, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Jennifer Simmons

Dr. Jennifer is a Memphis native who attended White Station High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Memphis with a bachelor's degree in Biology. Dr. Jennifer received her DDS from UTHSC College of Dentistry in Memphis. When she is not working on kiddos, she enjoys staying active in the gym or with her two dogs, Sam and Panda. Dr. Jennifer also enjoys watching her hometown basketball teams. Go Tigers and Grizz!

Dr. Nadia Hameed

We are very excited to announce the addition of a new orthodontist to our practice! Dr. Nadia Hameed will begin seeing patients next week in our Bartlett office. Dr. Rachel is opening her own practice in East Memphis later this summer. We are sad to see her go, but we are very grateful for the wonderful care she gave to your children!


Dr. Nadia completed her dental degree (DDS) at the world-renowned NYU College of Dentistry in 2016. While in dental school, she was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. This honor is for the top dental students in the entire country! Following graduation, she was accepted into the orthodontic residency program at the University of Pittsburgh. She completed her training in 2019 and has been practicing exclusively in practices just like ours… groups that practice pediatric dentistry and orthodontics!


She is very passionate about creating confident, healthy smiles! She is dedicated to providing personalized care for each child, and she's very excited to celebrate smile transformations with every family. We are very fortunate to have an orthodontist of her caliber join our team!


Outside of the office, she enjoys spending her time with her husband and two-year-old son. She loves traveling, catching up on the latest documentaries and binge-worthy TV shows, and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Kaitlin Polk

Dr. Kaitlin Polk was born in raised in southern Oklahoma. After moving to Memphis for her orthodontic training in 2019 she fell in love with this city and decided to make her home here.


Dr. Polk was drawn to the field of Orthodontics as a teenager during her own orthodontic treatment. After high school she attended Baylor University where she received a degree in Biology. Sic’Em Bears!


Following college, Dr. Kaitlin earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry where she graduated with honors and distinction. While in dental school Dr. Kaitlin was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Dr. Kaitlin was actively involved in OUs Christian Medical and Dental Association and helped led multiple mission trips to Central and South America during her time there.


After dental school Dr. Kaitlin completed a General Practice Residency at OU’s Children’s Hospital where she was able to gain invaluable experience working with pediatric patients.


In 2019, she moved to Memphis to complete her Orthodontic training at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, the oldest orthodontic program in the south! UTHSC accepts only 4 orthodontic residents each year and is known for its excellent clinical training.


Dr. Kaitlin’s clinical interests focus on state-of-the-art orthodontic technology that helps patients achieve natural and healthy smiles. Most importantly, she loves to support and build confidence in her patients during their orthodontic treatment journey. She is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO).


Dr. Kaitlin is married to Joe, an engineer. In their spare time they enjoy watching any and all sports, game nights with friends and exploring the midsouth. They are actively involved at Bellevue Baptist Church and enjoy spending time with their friends and family.
