Meet the Dentists
The combination of training, special interests, and talents of our four dentists in Bartlett, TN give us the ability to deliver a level of comprehensive dental care for children and teens that is unparalleled in the Mid-South. And the commitment of each of our dentist; Bartlett locals compassion and care is what wins them many friends parents and patients alike! Here they are:
Jeff I. Williams, DDS, MS, Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Jeff was born and raised in Memphis. He graduated from White Station High School, Rhodes College, and the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He completed his Masters degree in Pedodontics at UT also, and was Chief of Pediatric Dentistry at Ft. Rucker in the US Army. He founded Bartlett Pediatric Dentistry in 1979. He has been an instructor in the pediatric dentistry department at UT, and president of the Mid-South Orthodontic Study Club.
He has a special interest in orthodontic treatment of younger children, ages 6-10 (phase I), and has invented several appliances. Dr. Jeff even holds a US Patent! He has lectured at national meetings about his appliances, and has published articles on them.
Now working part-time as a dentist in Bartlett, TN, he is married to Patti and has 3 grown children, Jay, Joe, and Celia. He likes fitness and nutrition, and likes to travel.
Timothy P. Bakelaar, DMD, Pediatric Dentist
Dr. Tim hails from Brandon, Mississippi. He graduated from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, and from the University of Mississippi Dental School. He completed the pediatric dental residency at the University of Tennessee. He has hospital privileges at LeBonheur Hospital, which allows him to treat children in the operating room when necessary.
Dr.Tim was named one of the “topDentists” in Memphis Magazine in 2009, 2010, and 2011. This is an honor voted on by dentists in the Memphis metro area recognizing excellence in dentistry. He is board certified in pediatric dentistry, serving as a Diplomate of The American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
As a dentist, Bartlett provider, Dr. Tims special interest is taking care of the comprehensive dental needs of our younger patients, whatever they might be. He is state licensed to provide sedation dentistry for his young patients also.
He is married to Ellie and they have a young daughter, Abby. Tim enjoys sports and fly fishing.
Lauren Trammell, DDS, General Dentist
Dr. Lauren is from Milan, Tennessee. She is a graduate of University of Mississippi and The University of Tennessee Dental School. She is an active member of the American Association of Women Dentists, the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association and an associate member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentists. Dr. Lauren’s special interest is the comprehensive treatment of children of all ages.
Dr. Lauren and her husband, Chip, have a daughter, Aven, and a miniature schnauzer, Houston. Dr. Lauren enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Lauren is excited about joining the Bartlett Pediatric Dentistry team and looks forward to taking care of your child’s dental needs.
Mike McClain, DMD, Orthodontist
Dr. McClain graduated from Murray State University, majoring in physics, and from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. After dental school, he entered the US Navy and completed his residency at the US Army Orthodontics program in Maryland. He served as Chief of Orthodontics at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Since his retirement from the Navy, he has practiced orthodontics for 15 years in northwest Tennessee. He is married to Debbie, and they have two boys, Chris and Cody. He enjoys traveling, reading, and playing with their dogs.
